Hikers paradise

Breathe deeply, smell nature – feel and catch sight of the wideness!

The mild and dry climate, the diversified landscape and 250 kilometres of hiking trails make Prato allo Stelvio to one of the most popular hiking areas of South Tyrol. At the sunny side of the mountains you can hike almost all year. The variegated offer includes easy walks for families, ambitious tours through riparian and coniferous forests to mountain pastures and huts, and mountain hikes of several days’ duration to the local glacier areas.

Prato allo Stelvio is the ideal starting point for excursions to the Ortler Group and the Stelvio National Park. The highest summits of South Tyrol are located in the Ortler and Cevedale mountain groups. The offshoots of the Ötztaler Alps, the Stelvio National Park, the Sesvenna mountains near the border triangle (Italy, Austria, and Switzerland) can also be reached quickly.

Enjoy biking

The 80 kilometres long cycle way Via Claudia Augusta ranges from the 1.500 metres high Resia Pass to the beautiful city Merano with its Mediterranean flair. It’s the perfect distance for everyone who wants to do an impressing but not too exhausting tour. At the Vinschgau-Train stations along the way you can rent bikes and also e-bikes. In the picturesque villages along the Adige river you’ll find numerous possibilities to enjoy the typical Venostan cuisine.

Hang loose – Kitesufring

Lake Resia, where an old spire rises from the water, is the surfers’ local Mecca due to ideal wind conditions. Huge space for starting and landing, compressor for inflating and interesting program for slack periods (ping-pong, volleyball, tests, parties) provided by Adrenalina-Kitesurf-Club.

Snowy hillsides and slopes, framed by blue sky and impressive mountain peaks of the Ortler Group and Ötztaler Alps. Welcome to the Ortler Skiarena which inspires not only skiers and snowboarders. Nature lovers can enjoy the calm in the Martell, Schlinig or Langtauferer Valleys. Visitors can do cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski touring and snowshoeing there.

If you don’t need any snow under your feet, make some winter walks on the snow-free sunny side of the mountains.

There are numerous cultural assets along the former Via Claudia Augusta, a Roman major street which led through the Venosta Valley to the North.

Explore the Churburg with the largest European armoury or visit Marienberg Monastary, Europe’s highest-lying Benedictine monastery. Furthermore, there are Glorenza, the smallest city in the Alps, the Ötzi Museum in Bolzano and, and, and.

Immerse and cool down

The big adventure swimming pool in Prato allo Stelvio is open daily from the middle of June to the end of August and guarantees fun for the whole family. You enjoy free entry as we are a company partner! You’re also invited to the weekly BBQ with DJ.

The main attractions of the heated swimming pool are the 42 metres long water slide and the panoramic view of the near mountains of the Ortler Group and Ötztaler Alps. There are also a wide lawn for sunbathing and a paddling pool for the little ones.

Horseback Riding

South Tyrol’s landscape will be at your feet, or rather hooves, when taking a ride or making a horse-trekking tour. Also beginners will feel good when riding the gentle Haflinger horses. South Tyrol’s riding stables and schools are waiting for you!

Fishing with panoramic view

You can easily get to the near fish pond in Prato allo Stelvio: Just cross the nature reserve Prader Sand or walk through the cool Scots pine woods. There you can fish and also enjoy the wonderful park landscape. Furthermore, there are a playground and braais (BBQ) for families. Visiting the fish pond and the restaurant Fischerstube is definitely recommendable.
